Annual Tax Due Dates

Moon Township (Municipal) Property Tax Bills are Mailed April 1st of each Year.

Moon Township 2016 Millage is 2.74 mills

April 1 thru May 31: 2% Discount Amount
June 1 thru July 31: Face Amount
August 1 thru December 31: 10% Penalty Amount

After December 31: Taxes are considered delinquent and will be sent to the delinquent collector.
*Postmarked payments are accepted for all pay periods.


Moon Area School District Property Tax Bills are Mailed July 1st of each Year.

Moon Area School Property Tax 2016 - 19.5576 mills
ACT 1 Taxpayer Relief: Homestead Reduction $6,670 representing a savings of $130.45
Only those properties designated as homestead or farmstead will receive the tax reduction. a property owner only has to apply once through the county for the exemption. The only time a property owner must reapply is when a change in the deed takes place or the property is no longer their primary residence.

July 1 thru August 31: 2% Discount Amount
September 1 thru October 31: Face Amount
November 1 thru December 31: 10% Penalty Amount

After December 31: All unpaid Moon Area School District property taxes will be turned over to Law Office of IRA Weiss, 412-391-0160.


Moon Area School District Property Tax Installments Option (School tax only)

*Only those properties receiving the Homestead or Farmstead Exclusion by Allegheny County Property Assessment Office can take advantage of installment payments. No tax discount is permitted for taxes paid under the installment option. The full amount, (Face) is due in four monthly installments with the first payment for the EXACT AMOUNT listed on the School Tax Bill. The payment of the FIRST Installment by a taxpayer on or before the first installment due date will indicate and show intention that the installment option is being utilized. The remaining THREE installment payment coupons will be mailed to you AFTER the first payment is received by the Moon Property Tax Office.

Installment Due Dates:

2015 INSTALLMENT DATES
First payment due by 8/31. Remaining 3 installment payments: 9/30, 10/31, 11/30.

Installment payments must be received by the due dates or a 10% penalty will be added to any remaining installment payments.

After December 31:All unpaid school property taxes under the installment plan option will be turned over to Law Office of IRA Weiss.


IMPORTANT: UNDER PENNSYLVANIA LOCAL TAX COLLECTION LAW, A PROPERTY OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OR HER TAXES EVEN IF THE PROPERTY OWNER DID NOT RECEIVE A BILL.

IT IS THE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ANY MAILING ADDRESS CHANGES FOR THE TAX BILL, INCLUDING MORTAGE OR ESCROW COMPANIES CHANGE OF ADDRESS, REFINANCED MORTGAGES, AN ESCROW ACCOUNT NO LONGER EXISTING OR ANY CHANGE IN MAILING STATUS MUST BE DIRECTED TO THE MOON PROPERTY TAX OFFICE AND ALLEGHENY COUNTY TREASURER.

THE TAX NOTICE IS MAILED TO THE LAST KNOWN POST OFFICE ADDRESS OF EACH PROPERTY OWNER/MORTGAGE COMPANY OR OTHER RESPONSIBLE PARTY ON FILE. IF THERE IS A CHANGE OF STATUS FOR THE TAX BILL MAILING ADDRESS, DO NOT DEPEND ON MORTGAGE OR CLOSING COMPANIES TO HANDLE THIS FOR YOU!
